I need to go back to the very beginning, so you can learn about the REAL Miss Cat from my kitten days. Then maybe my present annoyance will make more sense. So, here's my story from the start. I hope you enjoy it.
Miss Cat's Story
I was just a kitten, living in a cage with my brother and sister in a shelter just for cats. It was ok being with my siblings, just a little crowded though. We were all still young, maybe 6 weeks old or so when Mom came in looking for a kitty to love. She was smart, my mom. She had decided to get herself a kitten for her birthday and she stopped on the way to the shelter to get all the things a kitty would need: food, litter and a litter box and some toys. Mom wasn't leaving the shelter without a kitty. There was a small room in the shelter where people could get to know the cats and kittens before they chose one. Mom looked at all the cages and asked if she could visit with me and my siblings. We were brought into the room and my brother and sister just ignored the big person sitting there. But I had to investigate, so I climbed up Mom's pants, into her lap, up on her shoulder and sniffed her hair. She smelled nice, she was warm and she liked to pet me. I climbed back down into her lap and let her pet me all she wanted to. Not long after that, she got up and told the lady at the desk that I was the one she wanted. Next thing I know, I'm getting put in a cardboard box with holes in the side and flying through the air. Then I get put in a car and Mom moves the box so I can see her. It was so scary! I think I cried the whole way to Mom's house, but she just talked to me and sang to me and told me it was going to be ok and I would be safe and she loved me. How she knew all that I wasn't sure, but I liked her voice and she made me feel all safe, so I figured I give it a try.
The car stopped and Mom took me out and into the apartment where she lived with a funny boy named Derik and her husband Dave. She put my carrier down next to Derik, who was looking at it in a really funny way. Mom told him he could open it up. He took one look at me and said: “But, I don't like cats!”. Mom told him: “That's ok, I do”, and went out to get the rest of the stuff she knew I was going to need. Derik and I eyed each other, not sure what was going to happen next, until Mom came in and told him he could name me if he wanted to. They were calling me Woofer at the shelter, isn't that the silliest name you can imagine? So Derik picked me up, looked me over and decided to call me Roxy. Not much better, as names go, but not real horrible either. Just not exactly the name I was meant to have. But, Roxy worked for me for now. Derik seemed to like me better after he gave me my name, too, so that was a good thing. Mom showed me where the litter box was and then showed me where my food and water was going to be and I got down to the exciting part, exploring my new home. It wasn't super big, but there were some cool nooks and crannies for me to hide in. Derik decided I wasn't so bad and Dad thought I was kinda cute, so it seemed like I had a new family.
This is the start of my life with my new family. I'll continue with more of my past in the next post. I hope you like my life story and maybe you have one like it. If you do, would you let me know? It would be nice to know there were other kittens like me that found families.
Thank you,
Little Miss Cat
